This workpackage addresses research
challenges resulting from the need for new interaction
paradigms and design guidelines for interactive devices in
smart surroundings, to support the shift from explicit
interfaces that require substantial user attention to
implicit ones that are integrated with the ambient
environment.
The overall objective of this
workpackage is:
-
Development of models, methods, tools
and techniques for human interaction in smart surroundings.
-
Development of conceptual frameworks
and design guidelines for the co-design of physical form and
affordance and digital properties
-
Development of techniques to elicit
user requirements and specify system properties for ambient
systems
-
Development of techniques for continuous monitoring and
evaluating ambient system usage with a view to improving the
fit between system properties and user needs.
