Security Research at the University of Twente
At the University of Twente, security is a top priority research area. In fact
-
ISTRICE "Integrated Security and Privacy - in a networked world" is one of CTIT's strategic research orientations.
-
PROSECCO: "Next Generation Protection and Security of Content"
is one of the UT spearhead (speerpunt) programs.
-
SENTINELS:
this is a large security-centred STW program (joint
initiative with the
Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen).
Security is not only technical; it is a multidisciplinary field that
has legal, regulatory and societal aspects too. This makes security
research particularly challenging. Unique in the Netherlands, the
University of Twente possesses the knowledge to cover the entire
spectrum of research areas, ranging from mathematics and electronics
via computer science to social science and law.
Scientifically, our research programs aim at contributing to a
comprehensive framework for the engineering, the deployment
and the maintenance of secure distributed systems, in which
existing and new techniques are harmonized and integrated.
Our research currently deals with computer and network security.
However, we are in the preliminary stages of investigating the
integration of physical, computer and networking security.
